HEAD OVER HEELS is the bold new musical comedy from the visionaries that rocked Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Avenue Q and Spring Awakening. It played its final Broadway performance on January 6, 2019.
This laugh-out-loud love story is set to the music of the iconic 1980's all-female rock band The Go-Go's, including the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle's “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” A modern musical fairy tale where once-upon-a-time is right now, it follows the escapades of a royal family who set out on a journey to save their beloved kingdom from extinction. Through a plot containing usurped kingship, unlikely lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, Head Over Heels preaches unconditional love and acceptance of yourself and everyone you know, no matter their gender or sexual identity, and uses some of the greatest pop rock hits of the late 20th century. New York Magazine calls it “a clever, delightful, bubbly, exuberant party!”
Directed, and with a set design by Otto Layman (Urinetown, In the Heights, Matilda), HEAD OVER HEELS features the talented production team of Choreographer Gianna Burright; Vocal and Musical Director Sio Tepper; Costume Designer Eliana Mullins, and the Lighting Design of longtime colleague Mike Madden. HEAD OVER HEELS' cast of 26 includes Carter Beaudette, Angela Zevallos, Logan Fleming, Josie Gillingham, Adelia Hubbard, Ben Watkins, Minh-Quan Q Le, Quinn Fergusson, Daniel Sabraw, Vivian Shay, Kiri Lofvander, Brandon Holland, and an ensemble of great singers and dancers.

HEAD OVER HEELS, conceived and original book by Jeff Whitty, adapted by James Magruder, is a jukebox musical featuring the songs of The Go-Go’s and based on Philip Sidney’s The Countess of Pembroke’s Arcadia. It's the story of what happens when the royal court of Arcadia is threatened by the mystical Oracle of Delphi with the loss of its “Beat,” the divine power that ensures the kingdom’s prosperity. King Basilius, whose own title is at stake, forces the members of the royal family and court on a journey to the woods in an attempt to escape the Oracle’s seemingly unavoidable prophecies. Through a plot containing usurped kingship, unlikely lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, Head Over Heels preaches unconditional love and acceptance of yourself and everyone you know, no matter their gender or sexual identity, and uses some of the greatest pop rock hits of the late 20th century.
