The Haunted House and Street Fest, to be held at, and in front of, the Solvang Festival Theater (420 2nd Street). It will run from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM both nights, with a kid-friendlier version of the Haunted House presented both evenings from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

This year’s theme for the haunted House is “The Fog”, through which visitors must find their way: “An abandoned fishing village lingers in the fog as the lighthouse searches for survivors, and shadows appear from the haze.” The Haunted House's entry fees are $8.00 per child (13 and under), and $10.00 per adult.

Both nights of Solvang’s “scare fest” will feature food and fun for all ages. Geared towards the “under 21” set, this year’s Street Fest “Kids Corner” will boast a bounce house, face painting, crafts, games and prizes, and the festivities on Halloween (October 31) will also include a “Trunk or Treat” – essentially, “trick or treating” from parked car-to-car instead of from house-to-house.
Other treat options during the Street Fest, which is organized in partnership with “Solvang Third Wednesday”, will include Southern comfort food from Georgia’s Smokehouse food truck, hot dogs from Good2go!, The Coffee A La Cart food truck, as well as other food vendors offering popcorn, churros and more. On-lookers hoping to catch sight of the Haunted House’s “escapees”, will find the best seats for doing so in the festive wine and beer garden sponsored by The Good Life, Craft Beer & Wine Cellar. Additional Solvang businesses supporting this year’s “haunt” are Valley Brewers, Eco Wine Furniture and Montecito Bank & Trust.
As an added shot of Halloween entertainment, this year’s Street Fest will also see a special dance performance by the Fossemalle Dance Studio, the official School for the Santa Ynez Valley Performing Arts Company. On both evenings (October 30 and 31), dancers from the Company, under the direction of Miss Sonia Ibarra-Corona, will be performing to Michael Jackson's “Thriller” in an original choreography specifically created for this event.
Individuals and businesses interested in participating in the “Trunk or Treat” portion of the Halloween Street Fest, may call Solvang Parks & Rec at 805.688.7529, for additional information and to register.
Businesses and non-profits looking to participate in any facet of this community event are also encouraged to contact Solvang Parks & Rec, as are any businesses or individuals interested in sponsoring any part of the event.
The Department is currently taking applications for Haunted House volunteers, guides and “monsters” (must be 14 years of age or older), as well as volunteers to run vendor booths and for set-up/clean-up; please call 805.688.7529 for full details.
Parks & Rec is also in need of Haunted House props, and is on the hunt for fishing-type items and paraphernalia, or anything related, such as fishing nets (pole nets or throw nets), fishing poles, rods and reels, buoys, boat parts, bait and tackle, lobster traps, old wood produce boxes, nautical knick-knacks, etc.
